DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY PHYSICIAN TO SEE A PHYSICAL THERAPIST?

“Florida is a “direct access state.” This means you are allowed to go directly to a physical therapist without a physician’s referral first and receive treatment for up to 30 days. After 30 days, the therapist will need to get a treatment plan signed by an approved healthcare provider. This is an especially important point for our many northern residents who spend their winters in the sunny south.” However, if you suffer from a chronic disorder or heart dysfunction please consult with your physician before seeking care to ensure physical therapy is safe for you.
